Diabetes Blood Test

๐Ÿฉธ Diabetes Blood Test at Prescriptions Pharmacy

Private Diabetes Screening Blood Test in Prescot โ€“ ยฃ70

๐Ÿ’‰ This blood test checks key markers used to assess blood sugar levels and risk of diabetes, including both current glucose levels and longer-term blood sugar control.

๐Ÿงฌ What Does This Test Check?

This panel includes:

๐Ÿงช Glucose

๐Ÿงช HbA1c (Glycated Haemoglobin)

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ Who May This Test Be Suitable For?

This test may be suitable if you:

๐Ÿ˜ด Feel tired or low in energy

๐Ÿ’ง Experience increased thirst or frequent urination

โš–๏ธ Have unexplained weight changes

๐Ÿงฌ Have a family history of diabetes

๐Ÿ“Š Want to check your risk of diabetes or pre-diabetes

๐Ÿ“Œ This test helps assess blood sugar levels but does not diagnose diabetes on its own.

โšก Why Are These Markers Important?

๐Ÿงช Glucose measures the level of sugar in your blood at the time of the test.

๐Ÿฉธ HbA1c measures your average blood sugar levels over the last 2โ€“3 months. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

๐Ÿ’ก HbA1c reflects how much glucose has attached to red blood cells over time, giving a longer-term view of blood sugar control. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}

๐Ÿ’ก An HbA1c level of 48 mmol/mol (6.5%) or above is used as a diagnostic threshold for diabetes in clinical practice. :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}

๐Ÿ” Why Is This More Than Just a Blood Sugar Test?

A single glucose reading only shows your blood sugar at that moment.

๐Ÿ“Š Blood sugar levels can change throughout the day depending on food, activity and stress.

This test gives a more complete picture:

๐Ÿงช Glucose โ†’ your current blood sugar level

๐Ÿฉธ HbA1c โ†’ your average blood sugar over 2โ€“3 months

๐Ÿ’ก Using both markers together helps identify patterns that may not be visible from a single test alone. :contentReference[oaicite:3]{index=3}

โœ”๏ธ Detects raised blood sugar levels โœ”๏ธ Helps identify pre-diabetes risk โœ”๏ธ Supports early detection of diabetes

๐Ÿฉบ What Happens at Your Appointment?

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ A trained member of the team will take a blood sample

โฑ๏ธ The appointment is usually quick and straightforward

๐Ÿงช Your sample is sent to a laboratory for analysis

๐Ÿ“Š Your results will be provided once available
